Annuities

Have you considered the possibility of outliving your income? If so, an annuity or lifetime monthly guaranteed income may prevent that from occurring.

Fixed Annuity

CD rates are favorable today, but wouldn’t you prefer to lock in a similar rate for a longer period of time say 3, 5, or 7 years?

With a Multi-Year Guaranteed Annuity (MYGA) you can do just that. There is no cost to you and they can be set up as an IRA or a non-qualified annuity.

For example, if you need income, you may be able to withdraw the interest accrued for that year or 10% without early withdrawal charges and a market value adjustment. Then at some point if you need a stream of income for a certain amount of time, your annuity contract can be annuitized, providing you with a predetermined amount of income depending on your annuity value at that time.

(FIA)

A Fixed Indexed Annuity (FIA) is similar to a MYGA with its withdrawals and annuitization, but it also gives you the opportunity to capture a portion of the upside of the market depending on which strategies you select.

For example instead of a fixed rate of say 4% you may be able to have a return of 5-7%. The nice thing about an FIA is you are able to change selections each year. In addition, you may be provided the opportunity to select a fixed rate for a specific year, if market conditions look unfavorable.

Finally, if you do not select the declared rate and the market ends in a down time during that current policy year of your annuity, you do not lose account value, it just stays the same.
